The
ceiling speaker system shall be a J.W. Davis model CSS-50 or
equivalent. The unit shall incorporate a two-way, bass reflex design
with a frequency response of 45Hz to 20kHz (+ 5dB) and a 92dB 1w/1m
sensitivity. The unit shall exhibit a minimum dispersion angle of
130° at all frequencies up to 4kHz and have a 50 Watt continuous power
rating. The system shall employ an 8" woofer and a
3 3/4" piezo tweeter. The unit shall have a removable, white
stretch cloth grill. The unit shall have a removable, white stretch
cloth grill. The dimensions shall be 23 5/8" H x 23 5/8" W
x 5 3/8" D so as to fit in a standard 2' x 2' ceiling tile
opening. The installed weight shall not exceed 22lbs. It shall
be possible to mount an optional line transformer on the rear surface of

| Model CSS-50 Options |
For installations in standard wooden
ceilings, order model CSS-50J shown in the following photo. In
these applications, the dimensions of the CSS-50 grille has been
modified to fit between the ceiling joists. Otherwise, the
CSS-50 specifications are identical. |

For applications requiring a metal
enclosure, the CSS-50E is available. This enclosure is
constructed of 24 gauge  galvanized
steel with provisions for conduit installation and structural
reinforcement recommended. The adjoining sketch shows the
assembly procedure. If higher power transformers
are desired, the CSS-50 transformer mounting block is sufficiently
large to accommodate these components and can be installed when
ordered. |
